IPL 2022: RCB confused about batting order will Virat Kohli open?

The Royal Challengers Bangalore, the IPL’s unluckiest team, will enter the tournament with a new captain this year. Virat Kohli stepped down as captain after the previous season. South Africa’s Faf du Plessis will lead the team on this. The team bought a lot of good players in the auction, but the batting order is still a mystery to the team’s management. The biggest question is whether Virat Kohli will open his account again.

Kohli has scored between one and six overs in the powerplay in each of the last three seasons, with a strike rate of 130.16. In the last three years, 19 players have faced more than 250 balls during this powerplay. Kohli is ranked eighth amongst them. His average during this time has been 37.40. Kohli’s strike rate in the middle overs has been 110.16 in the last three seasons. He has struggled to score runs quickly against spin. In this situation, we can say Kohli has been more successful as an opener in the last three years.

If Kohli opens, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have the opportunity to try out other middle-order batsmen. Virat can be seen with Faf du Plessis at the start of the tournament. After him, Anuj Rawat, a young player, could be tried. Glenn Maxwell will bat in the fourth position. Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror have a chance to finish fifth and sixth, respectively.

Fast bowling and opening are two of RCB’s strengths.

Bangalore will have no trouble in the death this time around, thanks to a lethal pace attack. The new ball will be handled by Mohammad Siraj and Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood. Harshal Patel, Jason Behrendorff, Siddharth Kaul, and England’s left-arm fast bowler David Willey are all strong options for RCB. In addition, the team has a strong opening pair. The front team will be put under pressure if Duplessis and Kohli open the innings.

RCB’s Achilles Heel: A lack of explosive batsmen in the middle order.

AB ‘Mr 360’ Last November, de Villiers announced his retirement from all forms of the game. As a result, he will not participate in the IPL 2022 season. In his absence, RCB will be without a middle-order batsman who can score quickly. De Villiers was a great batsman who could bat in both the middle and death overs. Glenn Maxwell will have more responsibilities this time around. Dinesh Karthik will also be scrutinised. It will now be interesting to see how both batsmen compensate for the loss of de Villiers.
