The statue has been erected in the Ramanujacharya temple built at a cost of about Rs 1000 crore. Earlier, PM Modi will visit the International Institute of Crop Research (ICRIST) in Patancheru, Hyderabad and start the 50th anniversary celebrations of ICRIST.

It has been 1001 years since the birth of the Vaishnava saint Ramanujacharya Swami, who talked about equality for the first time in India. A huge shrine of Ramanujacharya has been built in Hyderabad. There are two idols of Ramanujacharya at the temple. The first statue of Ashtadhatu is 216 feet high, which has been placed, it has been dubbed Statue of Equality.

The second idol is situated in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, which is made of 120 kilogramme gold. This temple built in Ramnagar, around 40 kilometres from Hyderabad, has several features.

It has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Who was Sant Ramanujacharya

Vaishnava saint Ramanujacharya was born in the year 1017. He was the creator of Vishishtadvaita Vedanta. He was born in Tamil Nadu and gained initiation from Alvar Yamunacharya in Kanchi. He gained initiation from a sannyasin named Yathiraj of Srirangam. He propagated Vedanta and Vaishnavism by going all throughout India.

He also produced many Sanskrit scriptures. Of these, Sribhashyam and Vedanta Sangrahalaya are his most famous texts. He died in 1137 at the age of 120. Ramanujacharya was the first saint who preached about devotion, meditation and maintaining Vedanta apart from caste restrictions. Ramanujacharya was the first to discourse about religion, salvation and equality in life.
